Employee Assistance Program Providers

Challenge

With the rise in popularity of employee assistance programs (EAPs), the demands on these services to become more robust and comprehensive have never been greater. Unfortunately, many EAPs were never intended to complement health benefits packages by providing preventative health and screening services.

In fact, most EAP offerings today fail to fully integrate health risk assessments into their offering, creating a weak stratification process; employees are often not properly identified as being at risk, nor are they placed in a program that is best suited to their unique needs. Moreover, these programs almost always fail to connect employees with their family physicians and responsive professional health coaches.

Compounding these problems is the difficultly of matching an EAP with a comparable third-party offering, one that works logically and seamlessly with the parent package.

While many EAPs offer wellness solutions, most fail to complete the circle between identification, treatment and follow-through. The consequence to employers is, inevitably, escalating short- and long-term disability costs. The consequence to employees is reduced productivity and wellness at the workplace, not to mention frustration with an EAP that only partially addresses their needs.

Solution

INTERxVENT bridges these gaps. Our unique health risk assessment (HRA) screens employees who have mental health, stress management and work-related productivity issues. In addition, we can engage with other third-party providers through EAPs to provide counseling services proactively before complications arise.

Through our HRA, employees are not only stratified according to risk but are also given an action plan tailored exclusively to their needs. This confidential report is made available to both the participant and their family physician for follow-through. This is an integral component to the program, a proven and scientifically validated process that meets the needs of each individual and works to ensure that all changes and improved behaviours are long-lasting.

This effective screening and proactive engagement reduces short and long-term disability costs. The robust INTERxVENT platform also has the ability to integrate links with other concierge services, such that users of an EAP will be able to seamlessly access a comprehensive suite of preventative health and wellness offerings.

A unique and powerful feature of the INTERxVENT offering is the availability of trained health mentors. Our program incorporates personal mentoring for participants in lifestyle issues related to nutrition, physical activity, stress, and smoking cessation or prevention. Mentors are trained to do much more than provide information—they offer encouragement and guidance that keeps participants on track. This has shown to greatly reduce the risk of failure or alienation.

The effectiveness and flexibility of the INTERxVENT program makes it an ideal platform for EAPs. For more information, and to inquire about an INTERxVENT program to supplement your EAP, please contact us.
